Hills and valleys follow one another in sequence from the Sibillini and the Monti della Laga, with the two National Parks, to the Adriatic, surrounded by historic old towns patterned with geometrical shapes and the colours of vineyards, olive groves and orchards.

The Rolling Hills

What distinguish this province and much of the Marche region are its hills, which occupy 3/4 of the territory; it is a patchwork of plots of land farmed right down to the last inch for the limited presence of plains; the different crops create the impression of an embroidered design, the villages and their old town centres set in like precious stones.

In spring the fields burst with colour when the wheat-fields abound with cornflowers, tulips, and above all, red poppies in bloom; This area was closely bound to agricolture and share-cropping until the last economic boom.
