The City of Ascoli Piceno, thanks to the contribution of the Gabrielli Group, presents, at the Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea "Licini O.", from 16 April to 6 November, the exhibition "Landscapes of Italy between Corot and Fattori" with 'exhibition of works by Giulio Gabrielli (1832 - 1910). The exhibition was organized as part of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Italy and brings together 120 works by the artist Giulio Gabrielli, which will be made in connection with those of the best known landscape artists of the nineteenth century with whom he was in contact during their period of study in Rome, Florence and Naples (Gigante, Von Pitloo, Caffi, Corot, Costa, Abbati, Sernesi, Vito D'Ancona, Lega and Fattori). A section of the exhibition is dedicated to the relations between Gabrielli and some of the Marche region renaissance exponents and in particular its role as curator of the artistic and archaeological heritage city and the founder of the Pinacoteca Civica and the Municipal Library. The artistic heritage of Giulio Gabrielli is a journey not only for the eyes, but also a time to try to set emotions capable of stopping time to get in touch with the places of memory. Since the eighteenth century, Italian and foreign specialists are dedicated to reproducing the picturesque views of the beautiful country, spreading the fame of the peninsula in Europe as a locus amoenus, favored by nature and a temperate climate. The Mediterranean vegetation, the islands of the South, the atmospheric ruins of the ancient world and architectural monuments of the Renaissance, not least of alpine lakes soon became the favorite subjects for many artists who, through their works, contributed to increase Italy's reputation throughout the European continent, while promoting the emergence among the intellectual elite of a unified vision of the peninsula ensured by a common cultural identity, long before the territorial unity to be realized politically. |
